Backup folders and files

Post by Franks_Asta »

Dear Expert,

To backup a folder and files, i should do an Full VM backup or incremental, to do that file backUp.
For example...I have 1 folder (I:\Redirected) that I would like to backup and keep for archive purposes.

Hi Franks,

If I got you correctly, you need to back up some certain folders from the VM, right?
Did you try to run such backup with Application Aware processing and use inclusions here on the Guest Processing step?

Thanks!

Franks,

in this case, why don't you just use file-level backup? If you need to back up one folder from a physical machine, it should help.

Thanks!

Hi foggy,
Hope you doning great!
We are using Microsoft Windows server that have NTFS Shared folder repository, and to let you know that we want to do Backup files and folders directy directly to tape.

For Dima P., What is the Diffrence between all the 4 storage compabiltiys but to be honest i know that the forth one is the best one in any scenario because it seperate VMs back up files. if i'm worng you can advice ! please feel free!

Thanks you all!

Hello,
We are using Microsoft Windows server that have NTFS Shared folder repository, and to let you know that we want to do Backup files and folders directy directly to tape.
So you are taking the backup to disk (Microsoft Windows server that have NTFS Shared folder repository) and then plan to send these data to tape via backup to tape job? If your goal was to tape out several specific files you can use file to tape job and send data from the source directly to tape.
What is the Diffrence between all the 4 storage compabiltiys but to be honest i know that the forth one is the best one in any scenario because it seperate VMs back up files. if i'm worng you can advice ! please feel free!
All available repository options are well described in this Help Center page - Configure Backup Repository Settings. Please take a look. Cheers!
