New VM from Template

I have a VM which I keep updated and is a template for creating new ones. So far I have been using VMware's vCenter Converter and it although not elegant it works. I was wondering if I can achieve this using Veeam. One thing I tried is to restore from backup and this did work but the file names of the new VM it created did not reflect the name I chose for the restored VM. I keep some stats on the files and sizes and this throws me off. I would expect the names of the vmx, nvram, vmdk, vmxf, etc files to be the name of the chosen new VM.

I'd be happy to see you share what you do or would do.

can you maybe explain a little bit more? "New VM from Template" is built-in VCenter functionality as far as I use it and I'm happy with things like guest OS customization etc.

What do you do with VMware VCenter converter? That product is built for P2V migrations.

I see no reason why I would use a backup software (vendor independent) to deploy new VMs.
