Instant Recovery

Post by garethcayman »

Hi All,

Long time Veeam customer, new Nutanix AHV customer here...

Is Instant Recovery supported by Nutanix AHV Veeam Backup?

If I try perform an instant restore from a Nutanix AHV backup I only see our Hyper-V hosts...

No, not possible.
you can only do an instant vm recovery from ahv backup to vmware or hyperv.

This has something todo that Nutanix doesn‘t allow external datastores.
Veeam needs to connect their backup repos to the hypervisor todo a instant vm recovery. It‘s not possible with this nutanix Limitation.

Ok thanks for the confirmation.

Do the VMs boot up ok on Hyper-V? We had a few issues getting them to work on Nutanix AHV, could be interesting.

I am using vmware as a target for instant vm recovery to test my ahv backups. That works without any problems with Veeam Nutanix AHV 2.1
