Backup path from cluster node to Repository

Post by Cheapers »

Hi, I make a backup from a MS Windows Failover Cluster. Backup goes great. I see outgoing network activity on a node. The node also has high CPU activity. On the Repository server, I see incoming network activity. The Repository server is not a Backup Proxy server (nor should the node be). No Proxy Affinity has been defined on the Repository. There is no network activity on any Backup Proxy. I thought the data must always go through a Backup Proxy. What am I missing here? I appreciate feedback. Thanks!

Hello,
you see expected behavior: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
I thought the data must always go through a Backup Proxy
only if you do VM-based backup. Well, or backup from storage snapshots with the Veeam Agent for Windows.

Best regards,
Hannes

Cheapers,

By the way for SMB/NFS repository you can rote the backup traffic via the set gateway server. Should be configured in the backup repository properties. Hope that helps!
