Post by leockw »

Hi all,

Is it no option to select the GFS monthly on second, third or forth week?

Kind Regards,
Leo

Dear HannesK,

If I need to backup a server on the follwing schedule,

Daily incremental, weekly synthetic full on Saturday, monthly full on second Saturday with 5 weekly and 12 monthy on backup copy offsite job,

Shall we create 2 backup and 2 backup copy job to fulfill the requirement?

Kind Regards,
Leo

Hi Leo,

It's possible to have a single backup job with synthetic on Saturday and monthly GFS and a single backup copy job with its own GFS settings. However, there is no option to mark the second Saturday of month for monthly backup, you can select either first or last week of the month.

Thanks!

Hi Petr,
I've see this link https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110, but Monthly GFS not work as Weekly GFS? If I set Monthly and First Week Veeam don't wait next FULL backup and mark it with M?

Thanks

Hi Mercurio, please review the flag assignment algorithm in detail. Veeam B&R can assign the monthly flag to the restore point that already has a weekly one.

Ok for multiple flag, if I have a backup with an active FULL monthly scheduled, how I can use only Monthly GFS correctly?

Not sure I understand the question. You just configure monthly GFS backup and your active fulls will be marked as GFS restore points.

Dear all,

I have setup a monthly active full backup job on the second Saturday each month with backup copy job. The local backup jobs is works fine, however, I found the backup copy job just doing incremental job except the first one. How to config the backup copy job also doing the full backup instead of incremental?

Kind Regards,
Leo

Hello,
the backup copy job is built for bandwidth efficiency. That means, it is incremental forever per default.

You can configure again GFS for the BCJ to create full backups at the destination side. With periodic, you can also read again everything from source.

As you don't have GFS on your primary backup chain, please check the "monthly GFS cycle" in the table

There is a workaround via PowerShell that allows second / third / fourth. But as you don't have GFS on your primary job, there is no way today to say "second Sunday". It would be always the 8th / 15th then.

Best regards,
Hannes
