Change source in tape job

Folks,

When I created our tape backup job about two years ago, I chose the whole backup copy repository as the source of the job, in order to backup all the latest full backups to tape once a month. What would happen if I remove the repository as the source, and add all the corresponding backup copy jobs as sources instead? Will the job continue to work as before, as if nothing has happened, or will that screw things up in some way?

The reason for asking is that I want to create another backup copy job that stores its copy on the same repository, but I don't want that backup copy to be included in the existing tape job. Instead I want to create a new tape job for that new backup copy job.
