We use Veeam to backup our sql servers. We would like be able to export the native .bak full backup files for our database. We would also like to be able to export the log files individually so we can restore the DB and not open it, and apply the log files as they come through. This process doesn't have to be automated.
It's a bit of an odd thing but it would help us with something we are doing.
I know I can do a native copy only without breaking the backup chain so that's good. But I still need the sequence of log files.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Re: Veeam backup SQL server - export backup files
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
I'm not sure I understood everything of your question, but I try to answer
1) export to .bak: there is a button for that in the Veeam Explorer for SQL https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
2) restoring a DB without opening it is possible with NORECOVERY or STANDBY mode: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Veeam backup SQL server - export backup files
Thank you Hannes for your reply.
Our issue is we'd like to be able to extract the individual log files out of veeam.
I believe we've found a workaround for the moment. It would still be handy though if anyone knows how this can be done.

Re: Veeam backup SQL server - export backup files
sorry for the late reply. I was offline last week.
Can you maybe describe what your current workaround is?
The log files are also available in any image based backup in c:\veeamflr if you start file level recovery.
Just to clarify you want to export vlb files to ldf files?
What do you need the ldf files for? Export the .bak to a specific point in time is also possible.
