DR PLAN FROM A Site to B Site

Post by yshuang »

Dear all

I need some advise here.
I have 20 ubuntu based vm server in A site (Commercial Telecom operators)
vm in installed in ESXi host
and I can only deploy agent based veeam backup solution.

And I need to build DR in B site
they they have AHV environment in B site
and I can install veeam vm backup server in B Site

my question is
1.can I backup data (A site) directly from backup server in B site ?
2.can I restore/recover data to vm in AHV anytime when I need to do DR test?
3.can I use instant recovery method in B site?
4.the most important issue is can I replicate server from A site to B site.?

thanks

Hello,
and welcome to the forums

1. that depends on the connection between both sites. If there is enough bandwidth / ports are open, then yes
2. in general yes. of course the must be complete / valid restore points available on site B (meaning: during backup, restore is impossible)
3. not today (but we are working on instant recovery to AHV). Instant recovery is available to VMware and Hyper-V
4. It depends what you mean with replication. Customers who are new to Veeam often use "replication" and mean "backup copy". Backup copy. Veeam replication: no.

Best regards,
Hannes
