How to connect to sql server using client

Post by gpd »

Hi,

how can I connect to the sqlserver database to make a shirink.

I forgot the password or better at installation I asked to use windows authentication (in this case the Administrator user); but I can't connect; not even using mysql workbench or I didn't find the sql server connection on the server.

Any suggestion ? Any default users? Change password maybe?!?!

You can reset or add a new serveradmin user in „single user mode“. After you restart the db in the normal mode, you can login again to the database and shrink it.

Hi Cassio,

You can verify your SQL account using Settings utility, however, this will not help you to remember the password.

Thanks

Hi Maslov,

where do I find the "setting utility" function?

My veeam one monitor is working, but I would like to have access to the bank for any maintenance.

Can you tell which would be the default user and port? ( can i use windows user and prota 1433 ? )

Thanks,

Cássio

Use my link and you will gain access again. It's from microsoft and tells you exactly how to get access to SQL DB, if you don't have the login data anymore.
It's very easy todo. Follow the steps:

how do I attach an image?

I saw the function in the menu, but it just inserted me --- Image --- in the text !

I managed to get to the setting utility, through the server console. it shows that the connection is actually being made via local windows authentication.

but how do I replicate this to my workbench?

You can't use local windows authentification. Your logon user open the workbench, and this user will not have access to the local mssql express.

Create a new sysadmin/serveradmin User in the sql database and use it to connect to it from your pc. You can give your logon user the necessary permission with my link. It's the easiest (and fastest) thing todo.

Please, review the user guide link above.

What particular ports you are asking about?
how do I attach an image?
You may use any external image-hosting service and then attach the image using the corresponding forum option:

Thanks
