Immutable NAS backup
Hi,
Since in V11 retention lock is not applied on NAS backup sent to Linux immutable repo, I would like to know what is the best solution to protect NAS backup on a immutable storage and if it will be supported.
Also, is there future plan to make NAS Backup immutable when sent to an linux immutable repo?
Thank you

Re: Immutable NAS backup
Hi, Andre. Yes, we plan to support this in future versions, however V1 of hardened repository only supports immutable image-level backups. Thanks!

Re: Immutable NAS backup
Hi Team,
Has there been any update on plans for hardened repository to support immutable NAS backups in v11a or v12?
We have a healthcare customer with a hard immutable requirement and we have run into a roadblock with PACS data residing on file shares. There does not seem to be a current solution for immutable/WORM NAS backups whether it be hardened linux, S3 based or tape (outside of a limited file to tape setup). Wondering what I can share with this customer about our immutable NAS story going forward.
Thanks!

Re: Immutable NAS backup
Hi Robert, it's planned for future version but 11a is not a feature release, but rather about new platforms support and bug fix. Thanks!

Re: Immutable NAS backup
Hi,
sorry to dig up but... is it real now in v12, please ?
I mean for NAS backup immutability on XFS hardened repo.
If yes, with no particular requirements or restrictions ?

Yes, it is real now in V12 as per the What's New in V12 document. No restrictions as far as I know.

Thanks!
If we test this I will post feedback here. But nothing for sure at the moment.

Re: Immutable NAS backup
@torteflo note you can test on a small file share at any time as the license is not consumed for the first 500GB. So there are no pre-requisites in case you don't have a license. Thanks!
