Clean VBRCatalog Folder

we noticed that the folder C:\VBRCatalog\Index\Machines takes up about 40 GB of space.
So we disabled File Indexing on every jobs. however the space did not clean automaticcaly. Can I manually delete the Machine folders under this path?
Or I have to do it through a specific procedure?
