Virtual machine backup failed

Has anyone ever had a failed backup with this error message?

Failed to check whether snapshot is in progress (network mode).
RPC function call failed. Function name: [IsSnapshotInProgress]. Target machine: [S***X3.s********ds.com].
RPC error:The RPC server is unavailable.
Code: 1722

Please provide the case ID for this issue as it is advised when you click New Topic. Support will be able to identify the actual reason for this error from your logs since there could be multiple ones.
