Offsite copy job using Veeam WAN Accelerator

Post by Pikes »

hello,

we need to know if it is normal that the offsite copy job using the WAN accelerator is only transferring one vm at a time. Is that correct?

Hello! Yes, I believe this is well documented in the User Guide. This is because source WAN accelerator can only process one disk at a time. WAN acceleration is a very compute & storage intensive process, so one disk is enough to saturate WAN accelerator. Adding more disk in parallel just makes each disk being processed proportionally slower, so your off-site jobs will not complete any faster (and usually slower, due to more random I/O from multiple disks processing). Thanks!
