S3 Veeam Backup Repository
Hi all,
do you mind if is there any way to check if the data stored on the S3 encrypted repo is the real showed on the appliance interface (Protected Data)?
Is there any way to see if some "orphaned" backup is resides on my Veeam Backup Repository?
It looks like my Veeam dedicated S3 bucket it monthly costs 3 times more then expected and i would like to check if something is wrong.
As always
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: S3 Veeam Backup Repository
Are you using Veeam Backup for AWS or offloading backups from Veeam Backup & Replication?

Re: S3 Veeam Backup Repository
Our cost estimation is of course an estimation of what we expect it would cost. Without insight, it is a bit hard to tell what could be wrong. Could you open up a support case for additional insight to analyze your setup? Once done, can you let us know the case ID?

Re: S3 Veeam Backup Repository
Case # 04974441 the retention keeps failing saying policy failed unexpectedly, i added logs from appliance.
The S3 bucket used storage is 80 TB on AWS and it is used only by VB4AWS appliance backup export tasks.
The appliance is linked on VBR to distribute VUL licenses, centralize policies view and one place for reporting.
From VBR the bucket size listed in Backup infrastructure --> external repo showed only 18 TB are used.

Re: S3 Veeam Backup Repository
Hi all,
Just an update to close this subject.
In order to get backup chain retention working again, i created a new S3 bucket without encryption and switched all my tasks there.
For what i understood, if you use VB4AWS with encryption on S3 backup export repo,
you must enable encryption immediately with creation of the backup job itself.
If changed in a second step,
it keeps failing coz is not able to handle the retention (data corruption with policy ends unexpectedly).
