BCJ: Active Full on 1 VM only?

Post by DDIT »

Hi,

I have a Backup Copy Job to off-site repo. There are 4 job objects in this BCJ, covering around 10 VMs in total.

For the past few days this BCJ has failed due to a storage I/O error reported on 1 small VM only. Can I kick off an Active Full for this 1 VM only?

As this VM is only 60GB, I would prefer not to have to do an Active Full on the entire BCJ, which is around 3.5TB.

Thanks in advance.

You can temporarily exclude other VMs from processing and create a new full backup. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try and report back.

This didn't work as expected.

First, I edited the job and adding exclusions for all VM's except the one I wanted to create a full backup for. Saved the changes, then manually started an 'Active Full'.

Job completed successfully. I edit the job again, remove all the exceptions, save changes. I'm prompted if I want to restart the job, clicked yes, job starts and is currently 84% complete...
processed 3.1TB
read 3.1TB
Transferred 2.4TB
When I view the individual actions for each VM, I see first entry says "copying restore point 06/09/2021 19:15 from backup repo"

If I add up the size of all the restore points created on the evening on 06/09/2021, I get to around 680GB, so it does look like this BCJ is running an Active Full.

Did I do something wrong?

Probably you shouldn't have restarted the job upon being prompted. It would finish the current interval and then continue with the incremental runs normally.
