Veeam Server Setup

Post by Marekiaro79 »

Dear all,
I'm asking tips for a new project/installation: Hyper-V Cluster environment with 2 nodes and shared storage.
2 Nas devices:
Nas 1 - for backup Job and replication Job
Nas 2 - for backup Copy Job

How do you recommend me to install and configure the backup server?
A) Dedicated virtual machine inside the cluster
B) on a physical node of the cluster
C) I can recover an old server and install the whole environment.

Thanks a lot everyone help me,
Alex

It's not supported to install Veeam on a HyperV Server. It's best to build a dedicated vm for the VBR Installation.
It will make it much easier todo upgrades or other maintenance activity's. As an example: You don't want to boot the hypervisor every time you need to upgrade veeam.

IMPORTANT
You must not install Veeam Backup & Replication directly on a Hyper-V host. Such installation may lead to unpredictable system behavior. Instead, install Veeam Backup & Replication on a VM on the host.

I would use another machine.
It's best to monitor your vbr server from a dedicated machine (VM or physical).
