Recover veeam's catalogue

Post by Alvaro »

Hi

I have a question about the recovery of one veeam server.

I have a solution in HA with two veeam servers working at the same time. B

I make a backup of their cataloque and store it in a external storage

Imagine one of my server is go down and I must work with only one.

The question is..

Could I recover the catalogu from the backup to the server which is working and merge both catalogue in only one?

Best regards

Hello,
can you explain your solution more in detail? As far as I see, failover cannot work.

What do you mean with catalog? The configuration database? The second server will not be able to decrypt the passwords because they are encrypted with the machine key.

There is no way to merge two databases into one database. Configuration restore would work (that's the classic active / standby approach).

Hannes

Hello

Yes, catalog is the configuration database

So, If I want to recover my server, I need to charge the database in the standby server from the backup?

Can this stand by server decrypt the data?

Hello,
yes for the first.

A little different for second: the configuration backup stores the passwords unencrypted. That's why configuration backup requires a password to protect the plain-text passwords

Best regards,
