Hi there, is there a specific file size for a VBK file that I should start being concerned about with regards to it having issues on something like a simple NTFS backup repo? Would something around 20TB be considered an issue?
I am seeing errors like file system limitation errors on the merge process so was wondering if the size of that VBK is playing a role

It would appear as per - https://www.veeam.com/kb1271 that if you start pushing beyond 16TB file sizes you will likely have problems

With NTFS, if you format it with larger cluster sizes, you can get higher file sizes:

But I'd strongly recommend if you're looking at restructuring, change your repository to linux with XFS with reflinks, or if you prefer to stick with Windows, ReFS with 64k cluster size.

Re: VBK file size and concerns
Hello,
from Veeam side there are no relevant limitations.
REFS and per-machine chains should be used with Windows. XFS with per-machine backup files with Linux.
Best regards,
Hannes
