Linux Agent: Debian 11 Support
Hello!
We ran into an issue with our Linux Agent for Veeam.
It seems that the newly released Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) is currently not supported.
This was also the case with the "new" Windows Version 21H1.
Windows Agent is now working again thanks to the latest patch but when will Debian 11 be supported?
Thank you!
Florian

Re: Linux Agent: Debian 11 Support
I think i might have misplaced my question since i'm using the free client only. Still i downloaded the iso and the agent version in there is the same as the one i'm using

Re: Linux Agent: Debian 11 Support
P.s. I’ve tried the rtm iso installed on a windows machine and not it doesn’t work for Debian 11 says version unsupported. For complete machine backup at least, that’s what I tried , I have no interest in file backup

[MERGED] Linux processes on 11.0.1.1261 (Sep 27, 2021)
EDIT Moderator: moved from post430951.html#p430951
The only way I could get it to work on Debian 11 (snapshots/full system backup) was installing the stand alone backup client and it also requires kernel debug to be installed or you’ll get a system.map not found error. When installing through B&R I get a unsupported version error. Didn’t try file backup though.fractalenergy wrote: ↑Oct 06, 2021 3:01 pm Okay so Debian 11 now supported, great new. Re: Linux Agent: Debian 11 Support
Hello,
okay, the documentation lacks the information that remote installation is not supported for Debian 11. We will update the documentation.
If you install the agent manually, then you can still manage them from the VBR side.
I don't use Fedora or OpenSUSE Thumbleweed, but I was told it's the same there.
Best regards,
Hannes

Don’t forget to mention that kernel dbg package is also required. The module installs fine but when when you try a snapshot backup it will fail because apparently system.map was removed from Debian 11 kernel.

Re: Linux Agent: Debian 11 Support
Hi,
The requirement to have dbg package for Debian 11 has been there all the way (both in VAL and AM guides) in the "Software" section of system requirements.
Thanks

Hi,
Ah ok, I'm sorry i must have missed that! I just found it a bit wierd that it wouldn't install automatically as the other dependecies.
Thanks, great!
