I am planning to setup a DR site with a smaller ESXI server hosting our major services for failover. I want to have A new backup server on the DR site and get rid of the current VBR server. I still want to backup the ESXI at the main site on repos residing at the main site. Failover is handled by DELL RIR.
We have a similar situation two Datacenters.
Datacenter 1 we have 4 ESXI and one vCenter
Datacenter 2 We have 4 ESXI and one VCenter
Datacenter 1 is our Main Production and have a VEEAM backup Replication on ESXI 4 and backup at the same storage ( RAID 10 ).
we have 10Gbps Fireber to Datacenter 2 and using CDP for Failover Each ESXI to the Remote Site ESXI Server.
a Daily Copy job ( Mirror ) from VEEAM Datacenter 1 to VEEAM Datacenter 2.
so yes its possible
Not only is this possible, but also it is the best practice to manage everything from DR site - if something happens with production environment, you will be able to execute required failover actions smoothly.
Is this possible?
Nothing specific here, just have required backup components deployed in production site: local proxy and repository servers.
