is the Public IP address needed on Azure Appliance

We have case # 04198245 to find out if the Public IP is needed or what it is used for on the Native Azure Appliance. Im able to SSH into the Ubuntu appliance and access the web portal with a Private IP. Thanks

Just wondering if you just removed the public ip from the VM for this as i connect direct over a vpn to the appliance.

Hi,
We use our appliance on a LAN, so connections to it are done privately, so we deleted the public IP address.

Yes, if you have a private connection configured, a public IP address is not required.

I'm unsure of what it means when you say "not required" when I attempt to do this in version 11, a public ip is most certainly required and I have to cancel from the dialogue box if I don't have one. Can anyone advise on the actual steps to make an Azure appliance connection to an existing Azure appliance without a public ip?

Do you have a direct connection to Azure from your VBR server available? Which message are you receiving?
