Backup Copy job issue

Post by M4Biz »

Hi.
I'm trying to test Backup Copy Feature.
I've don't well understood how it works.
If I set "Periodic copy (pruning)" feature that copy every day at , i.e.: 20.00, wich kind of file trigger the copy: only .vbk or also .vib ?
During my test I have one .vbk file that is antecedent to the back copy job creation date, but many .vbk that are following the date but none file is copied to the target destination.
Any idea?

A backup copy Job doesn‘t copy files to the target destination.
Restore Points will be copied to the target location with their own chains (vbk and vib). This backup copy chains have no dependency to the source backup job chains.

The first copy Job will copy the most recent restore point (vbk or vib, it doesn’t matter) to a new vbk in the remote location. It will be a fullbackup.
In the next interval, veeam will analyze the the source restore points and take again the most recent restore point (only if it wasn‘t processed in the last backup copy intervall) and copy that RP to the target destination as a new vib file of the backup copy chain.
If you configure GFS, veeam will create a synthetic full for archive purposes. Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. As you configure.
