Service account license required

Post by tim.palmer »

Hi all,

I currently use VBO v5 and my Office service account has an Office E3 license assigned, however my client is requesting I change this to an Office E1 license.
Will this break anything with VBO?
Is a license on my service account even required?

I checked the user guide here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50 but I couldn't see something, so if anyone could tell me if I missed anything that'd be good.

Thank you again!
Tim

Hi Tim

There are some scenarios, where the service account needs to be licensed. Office 365 E1 will work. You could even get a Microsoft 365 Business Basic or a Microsoft Teams Exploratory license, both has the necessary features which are required.

For Public Folder Backup:
A Exchange Online Plan License is needed

For Teams Restore:
A Teams License is needed to access the Teams API

OK great, thank you!
An office 365 E1 will be sufficient, I'll downgrade it now. Thanks for your response :)
