"Registering" Host that is a clustermember

Post by hbilke »

Ave collegae,

just today an admin of a cluster (Hyper-V Server 2019, two nodes and working / connected "quorum") sent me reports of failing backups. Resources of the cluster can't be found and the event log shows event ids 1146 & 1230. "Something is wrong in the state of..."

B4 going into the "deep dive" I'd like to create a full backup of the respective VMs and thought to add each node as a "standalone" Hyper-V server as the backup and inventory of the cluster is not working anymore. There is space enough on the repo.

Any gotchas to expect doing so?

Hello,
while not recommended, adding a host of a cluster as standalone usually works.

Keep in mind, that the software might count licenses twice if you add a host twice (via cluster and standalone)

If you want to be 100% safe, you could also use agents.

As you probably pay for Veeam support, I recommend checking out with support.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi,

blöd ist nur, daß es zwar eine BackupEssentials Lizenz beim Kunden gibt mit laufendem Supportvertrage, aber im Erstellen des Supportcases nur "kostenloses Softwre" zur Auswahl angeboten wird....

Please write in english :)

You need to login as the license admin to be able to open a support case or define other case administrators for the needed license id:

German text translated w/google:
The only stupid thing is that there is a BackupEssentials license with the customer with an ongoing support contract, but only "free software" is offered for selection in the creation of the support case ....

Sorry fellas
