Restoring Teams with "mixed" authentication

Post by DanielJ »

On this page: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50
I find this warning:

Use of modern authentication with legacy protocols allowed is not supported for data restore with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams.

Does this mean that for an organization where we login using modern authentication with legacy protocols allowed, we will be able to back up Teams data but not restore it?

When doing a restore, you can choose between using Basic Auth (Legacy Protocols) or Modern Auth. In your case, choose Basic Authentication. You will be able to restore the teams data that way.

Technically, for restores, you can use either modern or basic - it's your choice, both options are possible.

Since legacy protocols are not blocked in your organization, you can do restores via a regular user name and a password (i.e. Basic).

And modern authentication (via an application) is supported for all M365 tenants; all you need to do is create a new app registration and assign it with the required permissions.
