Migrata backup from Premium to Standard Blob

Post by francescorusso »

Hi all,

We configured VBO to Offload backup data to Object Storage to Azure Premium Blob but the costs are too high, we would like to migrate the backups to Standard Blob but I do not see how I can rescan the new repository.

Is there any way I can achieve this ?

Thanks.

Hi @francescorusso

Yes there is:

1) Create new OSR Repository on your Azure Standard blob
2) Make sure the old OSR Repository is disconnected (during the copy/paste, no new data should be written there)
2) Copy\Paste folder with backup data to new OSR repository. (Please use the correct tools to do this :-))
3) Attach copied data as new OSR (without persistent cache).
4) Change target of backup job to new repository.
5) Start incremental backup.

It will look like it is a new full backup but it is an incremental, and a new local cache will be created on the VBO server

Hi Mike,

Do we have a workaround to migrate between two OSR's with two different retention types.

I followed the steps mentioned above

1. Copied data from Old OSR (item level) to new OSR - https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/mov ... -s3-bucket
2. Created a new local cache

Upon attaching the new cache to new OSR, it automatically picks the old OSR's retention type. I reckon this information is stored in the bucket itself.
i have a customer who want to move data between two buckets and have different retention type. Wondering do we have any workaround as Move-VBOentitydata wont work between two object storage repositories.?

Thank you.
