Hi.
We have some serveres where we would like to delete all backups - the first jobs, but keep the backup copy data.
The retention for the backup job has expired - and the backup has been done with number of restore points and not with date parameter
What is the easiest and safest way to do this?
Should we just delete all backup files manually on the disk or is there some better way to do this?
Regards
Tore ML

Re: Delete all backups not Copy
Hi Tore
Do you have configured "Per-Job Backup Files" or "Per-Machine Backup Files"?
It's easy to remove the backup files with "Per-Machine Backup Files". You can delete them manually from the vbr console.
Backup Jobs and Backup Copy Jobs are separately listed. Choose Disk from the menu, and you will only delete the servers from your Backup Jobs. Backup Copy Backups will be listed as Disk (Copy). So as long you don't delete anything there, the backup copy jobs will not be deleted.
Delete Backups from Disk.
If you have configured "Per-Job Backup Files" and you don't want to delete all servers in the backup files, veeam cannot remove the backup files because they contain the other backed-up servers.

Re: Delete all backups not Copy
Hi
Thanks for you reply.
It think that it Per-Job - but since we are removing all servers from the backup job there should be no issue - right.
Just delete all servers under job\disk - and the jobs should be deleted.

Re: Delete all backups not Copy
Your welcome.
Yes, per-Job Backup Files can be deleted, if you want to delete every server from the job.
The files are not needed anymore.
If you want to remove the job, then you need to delete it first.
The backups will then be shown under Disk (Orphaned)
From there, you can safely remove the backup files.
The backups in the copy jobs will (Disk (Copy)) not be deleted.
