Backups getting bigger

Post by rjhindley »

I am backing up 10 VMs within a single backup job. Compression is set to "none". The data size is shown as 260Gb, but backup file (vbk) seems to have grown to about 600Gb, with deduplication ratio showing as 58%. I notice that some of my other backup jobs are showing a similar issue. Is this expected behaviour?

Hello, there is a known issue that makes backups grow with time if you have compression disabled. This issue will be fixed in the upcoming update. Meanwhile, we suggest that you keep the compression ON, unless you have strong reasons to have it disabled. Default compression level gives no perfomance overhead. Thank you.
