Can we restore PDB databases?
Hello,
We are trying to restore a PDB database but we get the following error:
"The sequence contains more than one matching element" (Literally translated from Spanish "La secuencia contiene más de un elemento coincidente")
Speaking with the official support they tell us that it is not supported (Version 11). In the past, in version 9.5, we did a restore and it worked.
How can we do a restore of this database, it was supported before and not now?
Thank you.

Can you tell us what type of restore are you trying to execute?

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
We try from "Restore applications items" the options "Instant recovery" and "Restore latest state" and in both we receive the same error.

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
Those are the applications for which we support item-level restore, PDB is not and has not been on this list before.
However, other type of restore including instant VM recovery should work fine, so continue your investigation with the support.
Thanks!

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
Restoring Oracle database should work just fine and we certainly did not have any feature loss in this functionality since 9.5 (only additions). So everything that worked in 9.5 should continue working in V11. Please ask your support engineer to escalate the case for further investigation. Thanks!

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
Here are the limitations.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... DB&ver=110
[For refreshable PDB] Data restore, data publishing and instant recovery are not supported for refreshable PDBs.
And for Instant Recovery:
During an instant recovery process, if you add a new pluggable database to the container, instant recovery session fails.

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
I can ensure that with version 9.5 in the past I've made restores of Oracle PDB databases. And now with the same database I can't (with v11)
Therefore, I think that there are capabilities that have been cut in v11 respect to v9.5.
In the official documentation of v9.5 (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/ba ... tions.html), in the "Considerations and Limitations" section, there is no comment regarding the databases PDB that does appear in v11 (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... DB&ver=110).
Can anyone confirm that with v9.5 it was possible to restore refleshable PDBs?

We did not intentionally cut any functionality. Let me reach out to support to escalate the case.

Re: Can we restore PDB databases?
We found the problem and now the restores work as they should. The problem was the deprecated parameter files out of the old $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory. Parameter files for the active database instances must be only in one Oracle home (also, Oracle Database prohibits starting two databases with the same ORACLE_SID even if in different ORACLE_HOME).
thanks all for your help.
