How can I limit the Logfile size on a Linux Backup Proxy

Post by christian.naenny »

We're using a Linux Backup Proxy (RHEL 8) to backup VMs in Virtual Appliance Mode (hotadd). The log files on the Linux Proxy caused the /var/log filesystem to fill up to 100% which caused errors in another application.
How can I limit the size of the logfiles in /var/log/VeeamBackup ?

Hello Christian,

Please try the workaround described in this KB article How to Change the settings related to Veeam Backup & Replication Log Files, Linux part is at the end of the article. Thanks!

Hi Dmitry
This Article talks about the /etc/VeeamAgentConfig file on Linux. We're not using the Veeam Agent on this Linux machine. This Linux machine is a hotadd proxy only. Do these settings also apply for the proxy functionality?

Yup, it works for the Linux proxy. Transport agent is the technical term, so some hives/paths may contain 'agent' in name.
