We recently upgraded a web server to server 2019. Ever since then the veeam backup job is failing on this server. Since it is a web server, we retained the same host name as the old 2018 server. Could this be the cause of the issue?
In the log we are getting "Failed to create VM snapshot. Error: CreateSnapshot failed, vmRef vm-103708, timeout 1800000, snName VEEAM BACKUP TEMPORARY SNAPSHOT, snDescription Please do not delete this snapshot. It is being used by Veeam Backup., memory False, quiesce False." Not entirely sure what is causing this.
A case was also opened (05215045).

Re: Veeam backup job failing after a server upgrade
Hi Philip,
The snapshot creation process is managed by the hypervisor, Veeam just sends a request to perform the operation. I believe you will get the same error if you try to create a snapshot manually in vSphere client. I'd probably start troubleshooting by reviewing vpxd, vpxa, hostd logs but let's wait for the reply from our support team.
Thanks!
