VSAN Alarms

Post by aramsay »

I'm just wondering are VSAN alarms for vSphere included anywhere? I can't seem to find these in VEEAM One 9.5

Hello and welcome to the community!
There may be no predefined alarms however you may create custom ones. Could you give some examples of the alarms you want to get?
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm looking at trying to get vCenter Virtual SAN Health Service alarms into Veeam one for reporting and history. In vCenter these are;

Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Cluster health'
Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Data health'
Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Network health'
Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Physical disk health'
Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Virtual SAN CLOMD liveness'
Virtual SAN Health Service Alarm for Group Test 'Virtual SAN cluster partition'

aramsay,

After a quick glance at alarms definitions, it appears that you can already use them in Veeam ONE as well. If you copy these event names to the alarm rule, you should be able to monitor vSAN today.

E.g. Alarm definition in the vCenter Server: Virtual SAN Health Alarm 'After 1 additional host failure'

Hope this helps!

Hello,
There are still no predefined VSAN alarms in Veeam ONE 9.5 update 4 release. We've received only 1 such a feature request for 3 years.
Could you describe your use case?

Hello,

I come back on this old subject after a problem on a vSAN witness not detected by Veeam One because doesn't had the alarm.

After some research, I can't find these alarms on older versions of Veeam One (https://www.veeam.com/kb2296), but I find these alarms on Veeam Management Pack for VMware (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/mp/vm ... tml?ver=90).

Is there a way to export these alarms for import into my Veeam One environment and is there an explanation why they are not present by default?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mooncake,

The alarms of MP cannot be imported in VONE because the engines of the products are completely different, so we will threaten your post as an FR. As a workaround, you may create custom alarms based on vSAN events, as Vitaliy mentioned above.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for your answer.

That's a lot of alarms to create one by one, but if there no other way, I'll do it.

Have a good day.

It looks like there are still no alarms for vSAN in Veeam One. I can only guess that vSAN is now used by a lot of Veeam customers and it would make sense to include the alarms in Veeam One. Where do I get the above mentioned alarm definitions for vSAN so that I can at least add this to VO on my own?

Hello,
We have the feature request tracked and weighed accordingly vs other priorities. I configured something similar, custom alarms, for other vSphere Hardening, it wasn't that tedious, use this as an example if you like:

If anything changes we will update the thread, thank you so much.

Thank you
