Backup Copy job not using fast clone
At one site that we manage the Backup Copy jobs are not using Fast Clone for the GFS retention. They are on a REFS volume as usual. The only thing different to what I would normally do is that these jobs are using 'Immediate copy' rather than 'Periodic copy'. Is there a limitation in VBR that prevents this type of copy job from using Fast Clone?

Re: Backup Copy job not using fast clone
Hello,
If you cannot find out from the list above, I can only recommend to contact support. There is also a registry key that completely disables fastclone, but I assume you would know about that if you created it
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Backup Copy job not using fast clone
Thanks for the reply Hannes.
The thing that got me wondering is: If I create a backup copy job as 'Periodic Copy' there is a tick-box option "Read the entire restor point from source....", and I understand that ticking this would disable fast clone. However this tick box does not exist if I select 'Immediate Copy'.

Re: Backup Copy job not using fast clone
So just to clarfy, given that the option does not exist for 'Immediate Copy', does that mean that Immediate Copy jobs do not use fast clone?

I see that your original support engineer is currently away and the case has been transferred to a different engineer. He contacted you today with further details. Thanks!
