Hello,
We configured backup job last week, with 5 days retention policy and synthetic full backup every Sunday, this runs daily every 10pm. It already ran 1 full backup job last Jan. 13, 2022. The next day we disabled the synthetic full backup, since the end-user decided to use Forever forward incremental instead of having Synthetic Full every week due to limited storage.
Our concern is, upon checking the backup files today the retention points exceeded, there's 1 full backup and 6 incremental files, the retention is only 5 days. Shouldn't it be only 1 full and 4 incremental? Thanks.

Re: Forever forward incremental doesn't follow retention
Hello,
if the job runs daily, then it should be 5 increments. If you see something else, please check with support and post the case number
Best regards,
Hannes
PS: support can only help if you upload logs https://www.veeam.com/kb1832

Hello,
did you perform a manual run of this backupjob so that you have 2 restore points created at the same day?
