Move the host containing replica VM
Good day everyone.
We have an esxi host onsite that contains a replica VM of a large production server wich is the destination of a replication job, the replication job is working fine.
We plan to move the entire esxi host offsite so the network segment will change for the esxi host.
Is there a way to configure the current replication job to avoid veeam backup recalculate again the entire disks changed blocks after the movement?
Thanks in advance,

Re: Move the host containing replica VM
Hello,
the recalculation is only done if needed. There is no way to configure it. An IP address change should not require recalculation. Did you see recalculation on IP change in the past?
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Move the host containing replica VM
Hello HannesK, thanks for reply.
I did not tried yet so not sure if will do recalculation on changing host IP addresses, however I see it does recalculation if the replica vm is moved to another host and used as replica seed cuz that happened recently and we had abort the replica synchronization because the procesing time was so long and start new one instead. Question posted on this forum (vmware-vsphere-f24/move-the-vm-replica- ... 78691.html)
I will make the test with a small VM prior moving the real one.

Re: Move the host containing replica VM
Did the following steps,
1. changed the ip address on esxi host console.
2. removed previous ip host from vcenter
3. added new host with new ip address
4. rescan the vcenter on veeam inventory console
and when try to edit the replication job shows this error:
"Objecte reference not set to an instance of an object"
then changed the replication job to point host destination to new ip, saved without any errors but again each time I edit the replication job throwns the error and again the destination server appears empty. so it looks like the replication job got busted .

Re: Move the host containing replica VM
since original job got corrupted, I created a new replicajob with mapping option pointing to the existing replica vm on the destination host, on the firs run veeam hangs for hours on "Discovering replica VM" so I guess I've would have to make the replicate full from scratch instead, very sad.

Re: Move the host containing replica VM
well, that scenario is not what I interpreted as "IP change". IP change for me means that the IP gets changed. DNS gets changed. done.
