Hi,
Is there a backup archive and delete functionality on veeam?
Let me explain better, I need to do this:
1) Make a backup with agent veeam on 10 servers
2) At the end of the backup, delete the files just saved from these servers
On other backup software that I manage this archive and delete feature has always existed, but on Veeam I have not found it.
I know there are pre-post execution scripts, but I have doubts:
1) If the job fails, is the script executed anyway?
2) I would not use post execution scripts as if it were modified by someone, the deletion would not work or in the worst case it would also be harmful by deleting unwanted files.
Thanks

Re: Archive and delete questions
Hello,
1) it depends when the jobs fails. a pre-script runs before backup...
2) not sure I can follow here. deletion only makes sense to me after backup was successfull.
Best regards,
Hannes
just to clarify: there is backup software on the market that has a "delete files from production" feature? Could you maybe tell us which backup software does such things?archive and delete feature has always existed

Re: Archive and delete questions
Hi,
tsm or IBM Spectrum Protect allows archiving and deletion of files when finished.
https://www.uvic.ca/systems/support/sto ... indows.php
Is it possible that Veeam will provide this kind of functionality in the future?
Thanks

Re: Archive and delete questions
Currently we have no plans for a purpose-built file-level data archiving solution.

Re: Archive and delete questions
ah yes, archiving (of files) is different from (block-based) backup. per default, Veeam is backing up (changed) blocks. With block-based backup, a backup software does not even know about files.
