We have an on-premise Minio S3 linux server, for our Oracle RMAN SOBR backup.
We have an issue with it that after several days online, the server runs out of memory and locks up completely.
I've been monitoring the system, and the process that takes all the memory - is veeamimmureposvc.
It starts at boot time with the Veeam Transport service, and begins taking increasing amounts of memory straight away.
Currently it's using 103GB of our 128GB server RAM, and will lock-up the server eventually - without a service restart.
I didn't realise that this process would even be required on an S3 storage server. I thought the immutability came from the S3 storage, rather than any Veeam process.
Is this correct?

Re: veeamimmureposvc memory usage
Hello,
Any chance the same server is used as Linux hardened repository for other backups as well? Anyway, please open a support request and share a support case ID with us as it looks like a technical issue.
Thanks!

Re: veeamimmureposvc memory usage
No its not. I did wonder that, as I wasn't sure the Veeam Transport service was even required on an S3 server.
It's whole purpose is to provide object storage immutability to the RMAN backups, as they're incompatible with standard Linux Hardened Repositories which we use everywhere else.
I'll place a support request - unless the quick solution is just to disable the Veeam service?

Re: veeamimmureposvc memory usage
I'd suggest to confirm any solutions with support as we don't know the real root cause and we don't know what else can be impacted after disabling this service even if it resolves the specific issue we're discussing in this topic.
Thanks!
Thanks!
