Backup Copy & Weekly Full
Hi guys,
I have a requirement to have 1 full backup copy job weekly. Currently the backup copy job chain is set to 14 days.
Is it correct that the only way to get a full backup each week, is to set GFS to 1 weekly on a Sunday?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Backup Copy & Weekly Full
Hello,
at least it's the easiest way. Another option would be exporting backups from the backup copy job.
Note: every incremental backup / backup copy is a logical full with Veeam. Usually these requirements come from "the tape times".
Best regards,
Hannes

Hi Jonathan,
Just to be sure, could you please clarify if you are interested in getting a full backup of the production data or a full backup of the data produced by the backup job? If the latter, then Hannes is spot on.
Thanks

Re: Backup Copy & Weekly Full
Hi guys,
Thanks for coming back so fast! Its a full backup of the data produced by the backup job! (Its required to have 1 full backup within 7 days for insider protection with iland).
From Hannes comment, actually GFS wouldn't be required, and actually just running backup copy job would suffice for this? since each backup copy job is a logical full?

Re: Backup Copy & Weekly Full
With no GFS configured, backup copy uses the forever forward incremental backup method. When you need a dedicated full backup with most recent backup data for archiving purposes, you may use one of the modes specified on that page and configure GFS to create one full backup weekly, as you guessed initially. Thanks.
