Veeam Physical server backup integration with HPE Primera snapshots

Post by ARycroft »

HI,

We are wanting to use Veeam to backup a number of physical hosts (e.g. Oracle hosts) connected to our FC HPE Primera array. Does Veeam support the backup of physical hosts using the Hardware snapshot capability? Is there a guide available for this?

Kind regards

Hi Andrew and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!

Here is a guide for native backup from storage snapshots and HPE Primera is in the list of supported storage systems.

Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback,

It appears that only Microsoft Windows is supported through the Veeam Windows agent? We are using Oracle on an Oracle Linux system. Is it possible to integrate Veeam Backup and replication with HPE Primera storage snapshots from an Oracle Linux system with Oracle ASM?

Kind regards

Hi Andrew,

Speaking about Agent Management, backup from storage snapshots is available only for Veeam Agent for Windows. Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN can directly stream database backups including ASM to Veeam repositories, it makes sense to give it a try. Veeam Agent for Linux can be also used for image-level backup of the server itself.

Thanks!
