Case # 05395329 - Upgrade from 11.0.0.837 to latest 11.0.1.1261_20220302 fails

Post by ralamo »

I have 2 servers, 1 is Windows Server 2012, and another is Windows Server 2016. Both present the same issue when trying to upgrade. Going through the installation it fails suddenly and gives an error message that says "The system cannot find the file specified" I uploaded the logs when I created the case. I'm new here, sorry if I'm missing more information. Please let me know any additional info that's needed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ricardo

Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for opening the case. I see you uploaded the logs. That's good.
So it's best to wait until until a support engineer finds time to analyze the logs.

Thanks

So the case just got closed. No answer to the problem because of free support which I understand.
I've been trying different approaches to try and solve the issue but none have worked so far. Uninstalled everything using revo including sql and deleted the database files on the sql program files folder to try and get a new full install but no luck, same error everytime.
I honestly don't know how to even start going through the logs. Is there a post or a guide on how to troubleshoot the logs, or what to look for... Anything?

Is there someone else having this issues that could shed some light as to what to try?

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance!

Hi Ricardo,

Basically, debug logs must be examined by our support team as it might be difficult to interpret some messages without having a special knowledge. The technical issues related to setup or upgrade procedures are usually quite sophisticated so I wouldn't recommend to troubleshoot it on your own. You may try to open a case once again, every single attempt increases your chances to get in touch with our engineers.

Most probably the issue happens at OS level. Do you have another server on which you can install Veeam B&R, for example virtual machine?

Thanks!

Opened a new case. I was wondering is there a guide at least to do a full uninstall? I'm talking new fresh install (completely remove everything, folders, registry, database, etc and start fresh). I honestly don't mind configuring everything again as long as it works basically. Can someone point me in the right direction to do that?

Thanks!

Hi Ricardo,

Please have a look at this page, uninstall process is fully automated and you must not remove anything manually, especially registry keys as it might provoke unexpected issues at the OS level. I still recommend to consider install of Veeam B&R on a VM.

Thanks!
