veeam guest installer service any longer needed?

Hi veeam-guys,

I've observed many orphaned veeam guest installer services on multiple endpoints, some of them show version 9.5.x which is already a few years old... Is this service no longer needed? We're installing/managing all our clients via protection groups in B&R.

If it's no longer needed, is there an automated way to uninstall that service?

the installer service is needed and it's okay to have old versions.

Asking the other way around: does everything work if you remove it?

I haven't fully tested it yet... Wasn't there a security issue in an older installer version or am I mistaken?

I cannot remember security issues in the installer service. I remember that there are situations, where files are copied during an update, but the version number in the control panel stays the same. As you did not mention which VBR version you use, and everything is working fine, I assume that everything is okay.

If you think that security updates are missing on some machines, then I suggest to check with support. Because "some" sounds like inconsistent behavior and should be investigated (with log files)
