Laptop not on local network

Post by keurdange_a »

Hello,

We purchased Veeam Backup & Replication and we want to backup VMs and Laptop/Desktop.
We deployed Veeam Agent on the laptops and connect them to Veeam Backup & Replication.

Laptops are 90 percent outside of the office. We configure Workstation backup Job managed by the agent
in the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.

Is this the best way to backup these laptops? The backup repository will be shared folder on Azure.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sylvestre,

Basically, the Workstation edition is intended to perform data protection tasks on desktop computers and laptops that run the Microsoft Windows OS. The virtual workloads should be protected by hypervisor-specific backup job, for example vSphere or HyperV. You can use the shared folder on Azure as a repository as long as you're satisfied with backup and restore performance. Alternatively, you can deploy an on-premise repository to ensure faster backups and restores and the shared folder on Azure could be leveraged as a secondary storage, for example as a target for backup copy job.

Thanks!

Hi petr,

Thanks for your answer. Ideally, that's what we want. But, some users can be outside of the office for months and we want to monitor their backup job (ideally).
