Teams explorer

Post by mrshahini »

Hi,
We have just migrated our SharePoint to Teams and we have enabled the backup of Teams in our VBO 365 and we have the version 6.0.0.379
After the back-up is finished when start the Teams explorer and brows to a Team, general I can see 3 sub options, Posts, Files and Other Tabs.
When click on the Files there there is no files there!!
When go to the same Teams in Microsoft Teams my files are under Files- general - Documents so I dont see the documents directly under files but must first click on Files and then Documents-General
Where are these files in backup?

Thanks

Hi Shahin

Doesn't look expected to me. What's the case number?
Do you have also a SharePoint backup of the same Teams SharePoint Site?
Do you see the files in the backup there?

Thanks

Hi Fabian,
it looks like that we don't see the data in Teams Explorer because the files are not in the folder General in Teams!! the general is the default teams channel and it looks like that VBO 365 will backup only data in the Teams channels!
can you please confirm this?

Thanks

Hi Shahin

No, a Teams Backup Job will also backup files from the "general" channel.
I have files in both locations, the default teams channel and my own personal channels:

I think when we migrated our SharePoint to the Teams all the files and subfolders of a Sharepoint library's didn't put in the General channel,
When I go to a Teams that was migrated from SharePoint I see this:
Image

as you can see no files there, but when click on the Document beside the general then I see all of my files
Image

now when I go to the teams explorer I cannot see the files,

So it looks like the files that are not in the general channel or any other channel will not get backup

Thanks for the screenshots.
A Teams Backup Job will only backup the files of a Veeam Channel and not the parent folder of all Teams Channels. Each Channel has it's own folder on the sharepoint teams site. When you go to documents, then you are in the root folder of the entire Teams SharePoint site and outside of the General Files Folder. You should put your files in the folder General, if you want to backup it with a teams job. Or use a Sharepoint Job to backup the entire sharepoint site additionally to the teams backup job. You can use the same repository, and veeam will only backup the same data once.
