Proxy For Azure Blob Storage

Post by keurdange_a »

Hello,

I'm pretty new to veeam and I have the below scenario.

I have Site A and Site B. Each of the sites have their own internet link. The site are interconnect but the throughput isn't good enough for transiting large amount of data.
Both site have independent Hyper-V cluster. We purchased Veeam Backup and Replication and a Azure Blob Storage.

The deployment of Site A works perfectly. Now, we want to deploy the site B with the below constraints:
  1. The Veeam Backup and Replication deploy on site A will manage backup jobs on site B
  • The backups of site B must go to the Azure Blob Storage directly (without transiting through the Site A)
It this possible? if not, what is the best way to achieve this?
If it's possible, a veeam proxy on Site B will be sufficient?

Hi Sylvestre,

Yes, you can manage backups on the site B by Veeam B&R located on the site A. You can deploy backup repositories on the site B and run backups in either on-host or off-host mode which requires proxy. If you want to offload data to Azure Blob Storage, you need to create Scale-Out Backup Repository with the Capacity Tier. By the way, this article might be also helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Petr,

Thanks for your reply. By using a SOBR, we need to install a full Veeam Backup & Replication Server on site B, right?

You technically don't have to have full VBR installed in site B - just a repository server set up in a SOBR with the Capacity Tier as noted. You can manage this from Site A.
