nWorks 5.7

Post by felyjos »

Hello,

I thought the installation of the new environment 5.7 for EMS, UI, VIC and MP will remove all this messages we were getting on the vCenter "Refresh Hardware Information". We are still seeing all these message for all the systems...

Release Notes:
"New method of collecting hardware data
The Veeam nworks MP 5.7 uses a new approach to collect hardware information. Instead of calling a ‘Hardware Refresh’ function in vCenter for each ESX host, the nworks MP uses the CIM over XML protocol to obtain hardware data directly from ESX hosts. This approach means hardware information is always up-to-date, and resolves the issue of continual ‘Refresh Hardware Information’ events in the VI-Client."

Any information on this issue?
Thanks,
Dom

Hi Dom,

Probably, the user account for nworks connection to vCenter does not have the required permissions. We can use Read-Only account for almost all VMware data - but for this new hardware method, we need one specific permission. It is called 'CIM Interaction', you can add this to the Role you are using in vCenter for nworks connection account.

For details on this new permission, please see MP Installation Guide, page 8 'Accounts and Privileges'.

If you dont set the above permission, then nworks will default back to using the 5.6 method of getting hardware data from vCenter. That's why you would still be seeing Refresh Hardware events in VI Client.

Hope that helps!
Cheers
Alec
