IBM Storwize Flashcopy schedule

Post by daw_idee »

Hello,
I have setup a V7000 on storage infrastructure, i see that i can schedule backup of vm with target the v7000, so veeam take a flashcopy of the LUN where the vm resides, there is any way to schedule flashcopy of a sets of LUN instead of a specific VM? I see that "for evaluation purposes, you can create an ad hoc storage snapshot" and I can take flashcopy of any volumes on the storage but there is no way to manage it.
thanks

Hi

If I understand you right then an option could be to select the whole datastore instead of the vm on the backup job.
Usually one data store is also one LUN so you would basically create a LUN snapshot with it.

Let me know in case of any further questions.

Hello Stefan, I can't test it now because in the storage there isn't any datastore, what i want to archive is schedule flashcopy on LUNs on the storage regardless if they are datastore or not, i know that is out of scope of the veeam server but the function to create snapshot is present maybe there is a way to schedule it

No, if there is no datastore on the LUN we don’t support creating a scheduled snapshot (as you already mentioned).
I’m happy to add your demand to the list of requests.
