Configuration Database Restore Wizard

Post by garba1980 »

Good morning everyone.
I have a virtual machine on which Veeam Backup and Replication 10 is installed, for saving all VMware ESXi 6.7 virtual machines. Veeam's configuration is obviously also saved everyday (the repository is located on QNAP NAS).
In case of a catastrophic failure on ESXi, can i just install Veeam Backup and Replication 10 on a new virtual machine and restore the configuration?
Thanks to everyone and have a good day.

Good morning Luca,
That is correct. In case the OS, or the VM where you have installed Veeam fails. You can just create another VM, or even install VBR on your computer, or physical Windows, and use the restore config wizard https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... store.html

For restoring purposes, you do not even need the config imported, a vanilla VBR with the QNAP repo added is enough, you will see your backups under Backup - Disk (imported)

You can give it a try without breaking anything, as long as you install same VBR version and you add the repo to that new server, just to see you can access all your backups under the mentioned section.

Thanks!
