Support for Compute and Sizing Policies (Cloud Director)

Post by mbo77 »

I'd like to protect VMs organized by Cloud Director and the vDC is setup to offer VM Sizing Policies (https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud ... 475CC.html). One of them is set to be the default one, for example with 2 vCPUs and 4 GB of RAM.
A restore done with Cloud Director context will restore and import the VM just fine, except that the VM is recreated with the default settings of this vDC, so 2 CPU/4GB RAM. But the VM originally backed up had 4 CPUs/16 GB RAM, for example.
The concept of sizing policies is similar to the one of storage policies. Veeam has support for the latter, but this doesn't seem to be true for sizing policies.

Can anyone confirm the lack of this support and are the plans to do so?

Your understanding is correct; the backup server selects a default VM sizing policy for a restored VM. Assuming we had this feature implemented, how would you see the workflow? An ability to specify VM sizing policy explicitly in the restore wizard? Thanks!

Yes, I would see it similar like the storage policy, where the original policy is presented as default and you can choose where to restore to.
