Remote Site proxy instead of B&R

Post by edufon »

Hi everyone.
The enterprise where I work have two offices. In office A we have a Veeam B&R with local backup to a NAS, and Office B with other Veeam B&R, same thing, local backup to a local NAS.
Both offices are connected by a Site2Site Tunnel.
If I remove Veeam B&R from office B and install a proxy, can I backup local VMs (In site B) to the local NAS (Site B) from Veeam B&R in Site A? Would the traffic go from Office B to Office A and to Office B back again?
I wish iIhad been clear!
Thanks!

Hello Eduardo,

If you specify a proxy from site B in backup job settings, data traffic will remain within site B. Only management traffic will circulate between sites but it should not be an issue for the available tunnel bandwidth and should not affect the backup job duration.

Thanks!

Thanks PetrM!
One more question, Veeam let me make copies of the backups from Office A to B or I need another Veeam B&R on the other side?

Hi Eduardo,

Of course, you can manage backup copy jobs from Veeam B&R server on site A, just specify a repository from site B in the backup copy job settings.

Thanks!
