Exported tape identifying

Post by adam900331 »

Hy!

When select the "Export current media set upon job completion" in the backup to tape job, how can I identify what tape take out from tape library? Where can start the take out process? Can I use Veeam to instruct tape library? Or can I log in to the tape library to start take out process like pull magazine from tape library? Thanks.

Hello,
are the tapes not placed to the mail slot?

If there is no mail slot, then tapes are identified by numbers / barcode. Then tapes can be removed from the library by opening the library physically.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hy!

It was just a theory question. :) So, If the mailslot is enabled on the tape library and perform export tape, the tape library move the all affected tape to the mailslot? If I enable the "Export current media set upon job completion" option, the Veeam instruct the tape library to move all of the tapes which is belongs to the media set into the mailslot? If yes, what happen when the tape library has only one mailslot and the actual media set include 3 tape?

Thanks.

Hello,
yes, please see the link I posted above :-)

Obviously, we are bound to the limits of physics... opening the library is the workaround. As always, it's a good idea to do the things in practice to ensure things are working in a way that fits your processes.

Best regards,
Hannes
